山东大学交通规划设计研究中心于2008年5月28日挂牌成立， 2008年11月14日正式批复（山东人字【2008】142号），旨在整合交通运输工程领域科研力量，建立良好的教学与科研发展平台，开展国内外交流与合作，促进交通系统发展的可持续性与可靠性。 中心研究领域涉及三个方面：区域与城市交通规划、交通系统分析与设计、交通系统组织与管理；关注绿色交通（慢行交通、公共交通）与低碳发展（城市形态与资源环境）；解析交通系统运行机理，完善交通科学与技术体系，强调实践与创新。 立足本土，中心在国内外开展了广泛的交流与合作。基于与美国加州大学伯克利分校（UC-Berkeley）交通研究中心的合作协议，集中于慢行交通和公交导向式发展（TOD）模式的研究；与美国能源基金会（EF）签署人才培养合作协议，在公共交通尤其是快速公交（BRT）方面得到持续支持，并派专家顾问予以指导；与同济大学交通运输工程学院有着传统的合作关系，杨晓光教授被聘为研究生导师和中心顾问；台湾大学土木研究所的张学孔教授受聘中心客座教授。 服务地方，不断加强与规划、建设、市政公用、交通管理、公共交通等部门和单位的合作关系，建立城市交通系统决策支持平台，开辟研究与应用可持续发展之路。 注重中心文化建设，培育精英团队。在践行“做人做事做学问”的过程中贯穿“责任”和“荣誉”，铭记 “主动能动推动”、“有心专心苦心 ”、“智力毅力体力”！

The Transportation Planning & Design Research Center of Shandong University （SDUTC），was established on May 28th, 2008, and was approved on November 14th, 2008 (Shandong University Human Resource [2008] # 142). The center aims to integrate research resources in the transportation engineering field, to establish a platform for education, research, as well as communication and cooperation in and abroad, and to improve the sustainability and liability of transportation system development.

The SDUTC has three research areas: regional and urban traffic planning, transportation system analysis and design, and traffic system organization and management; and our research focuses on non-motorized transport and public transport; analyzing mechanism of transportation flow system, and improve the system of transportation sciences and techniques, emphasizing practice and innovation.

Based on Jinan, the center has developed broad cooperation and communication in and abroad. The current research of non-motorized transport and Transit-Oriented-Development (TOD) is based on a contract with the transportation research center of UC-Berkeley. The Energy Foundation has been supporting the research on public transport especially Bus-Rapid-Transit (BRT), with expert consultants. The center has long-term cooperation with the transportation engineering school of Tongji University, and Professor Yang Xiaoguang was appointed as graduate student adviser and consultant. Also Professor Zhang Xuekong from Civil Engineering Research Institute of National Taiwan University was appointed visiting professor of the center.

The center is dedicated to serve the city by improving cooperation with planning, construction, public facilities, traffic management, and public transit agencies, establishing a platform to support the policy-making for static and dynamic urban transportation system, and pioneering a way of sustainable development for research and practice.
